This 1959 Volvo PV544 Sport is a first-year production Sport model, built in Gothenburg in late 1958 and sold new in San Diego, USA, in 1959. It was discovered by a Swedish collector in 2012 after 20 years of storage.
The vehicle was brought to Sweden, refreshed, and later fully repainted in 2014 in its original Midnight Blue. During reassembly, the engine was removed for inspection and minor overhaul. It showed excellent compression and condition, with refurbished carburetor and radiator, new hoses, seals and a full service.
Nearly all new parts available from VP-Autoparts were installed, including bumpers, carpets, insulation, locks, lighting and rubber details. It is claimed that the car has never had rust repairs and was completely rust-free and undamaged before restoration. It rides on period-correct JP magnesium wheels with new tyres.
