This 1991 Mercedes-Benz 230 CE is a C124 generation coupe, powered by the M102 2,3-litre inline-four engine, paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission driving the rear wheels.
According to the seller, the car has been in their ownership since 2011, having been purchased with around 290,000 km. Initially used as a daily driver, it later became a second car, leading to an extensive mechanical restoration.
The seller states the engine underwent a complete rebuild, including replacement of the cylinder liners to retain the original pistons, resulting in excellent compression. Additional work reportedly included the timing components, oil pump, water pump, engine seals and gaskets, alternator, air conditioning compressor, KE-Jetronic fuel distributor and diaphragm.
The automatic transmission was also rebuilt after reverse gear was lost, with all clutch packs and brake bands replaced. The ASD hydraulic locking differential was restored, including adjustment of internal tolerances, replacement of seals and refurbishment of the friction discs.
According to the seller, the rebuilt engine, transmission and drivetrain have covered approximately 15,000 km since the work was completed. The suspension has also been refurbished and the underside treated against corrosion. The car is equipped with a sunroof, air conditioning, GPS head unit, CD changer, factory car phone and retains its original interior. Documentation covering both the current and previous ownership is included.
• Small corrosion spots around the front windscreen seal
• Small oil drip after prolonged winter storage
