History and additional information

This 1997 Jeep Cherokee is an XJ-generation off-roader, equipped with a 2.9-liter Mercedes-Benz OM602 turbodiesel, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission.

According to the seller, the car was used mainly for off-road trips and long journeys through demanding terrain, rather than for highway driving. The original 2.5 l diesel engine was swapped by the previous owner, and the seller states that the OM602 engine underwent a full rebuild in 2022. The vehicle came to Europe in 2011 from Ohio, USA, and has been in the seller’s hands for over 4 years.

Equipment includes selectable 4×4 with rear-wheel-drive mode, power steering, power windows and mirrors, central locking, a radio, and seating for five. The seller claims the fuel consumption is 9 l/100 km in city and 7 l/100 km outside the city. Insurance is valid until October 2026, and the technical inspection until July 2027.

Service during the seller’s ownership includes an engine and steering gear rebuild in 2022, clutch replacement and brake service in 2024, as well as repairs to the front window mechanisms and repairs to the ball joints and axles in 2025. All-terrain tires were fitted in July 2025. There is corrosion on the rocker panels. The seller emphasizes a strong sentimental attachment and would prefer the car to go to an enthusiast.
