History and additional information

This 1984 Volkswagen Jetta is a first-generation (Typ 16) saloon, powered by a 1.8‑litre carbureted inline-four, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

According to the seller, the car has been kept in a heated garage since 2017, and the sills were welded during that time. The front and rear strut towers are sound. The front wings and bonnet were replaced with original parts in good condition and professionally painted, and all lighting was replaced. The seller states the documents list a 1.5‑litre petrol engine and a 4-speed manual gearbox, and that the fitted engine and gearbox work perfectly. The car has a glass sunfroof.

In summer 2026 a new exhaust from the middle of the car back was fitted. All shocks and springs, new handbrake cables, new brake lines and other small parts were fitted. The car was bought in early summer 2026 and assembled from available parts within a week to attend VAG Camping 2026, and it drove there and back.

A large collection of new and used spare parts built up over the years is included: interior plastic trim, wing and door trims, new headlight surrounds, a grille, a BMW E30 spoiler and more. The original 13-inch Jetta Mk1 wheels with VW hubcaps are also included.
