This 1997 Mitsubishi Pajero Evolution is a Japan-market homologation model built by Mitsubishi to meet FIA regulations for the Dakar Rally. One of approximately 2693 produced between 1997 and 1999, it features a wide-body design, aluminum body panels, factory skid plates, Recaro front seats, and a 3.5-liter DOHC V6 with Mitsubishi’s MIVEC variable valve timing system.
Power is sent to all four wheels via a five-speed automatic transmission, a center differential lock, and a rear Torsen limited-slip differential. Factory suspension includes multi-link rear arms, coil springs, and gas dampers unique to the Evolution model.
